Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the computer-to-computer exchange of business documents in a standardized electronic format between trading partners. In logistics, EDI is used to facilitate the seamless transmission of information such as purchase orders, invoices, shipping notices, and customs documents. EDI replaces traditional paper-based communication, enhancing speed, accuracy, and efficiency in transactions. By automating data exchange, EDI reduces manual errors, lowers costs, and improves overall supply chain coordination and visibility.
